Our Lady of Ilige

Our Lady of Ilige (also known as Our Lady of the Maronites) is a sacred 10th-century Syriac icon of the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus. Named after the patriarchal Monastery of Our Lady of Ilige in Mayfouq, Lebanon, the revered image served as the personal icon of Maronite Patriarchs during times of severe persecution.

Saint Maron

Saint Maron is the spiritual father of the Maronites, and the saint from whom the Maronite Church draws its name. The Maronite rite is one of 22 eastern Catholic rites that is in full communion with the Holy See of Rome. Of all the Eastern rite Churches, the Maronite Church is the only one known by the name of a person—Saint Maron.

Saint John Maron

The Maronite Church was organized in the late seventh and early eighth centuries, with Saint John Maron (Youhana Maron) as the first patriarch of the Maronite Church. He was a preacher, teacher, apostle, great shepherd as a spiritual and military leader, and a significant civilian and administrative figure who supported his people in their tribulations.

Saint Rafqa

Saint Rafqa (1832–1914) was a Lebanese Maronite nun known as the patron saint of the sick and those who have lost parents. Canonized in 2001, she spent the final 29 years of her life enduring immense physical agony and blindness, which she embraced as a spiritual offering to share in the sufferings of Christ.

Saint Nimatullah Al-Hardini

Saint Nimatullah Al-Hardini (1808–1858) was a revered Lebanese Maronite monk and priest who served as the spiritual teacher and mentor to Saint Charbel Mahklouf. Known as the "Saint of Kfifan," he was an ascetic scholar who dedicated his life to teaching seminarians and guiding souls.

The Massabki Brothers

The Massabki Brothers—Francis, Abdel Moati, and Raphael—were three Maronite Catholic laymen from Damascus, Syria, renowned for their devout lives and martyrdom. During the 1860 anti-Christian riots in the region, they sought refuge in a Franciscan church where they chose to die rather than renounce their Christian faith. Canonized on October 20, 2024, they are honored as the Martyrs of Damascus.

Blessed Estephan Nehmé

Blessed Estephan Nehmé (aka Yūsuf Nehmé) was a Maronite monk known for his piety, humility, and dedication to a life of prayer and service. He is also a wonderworker. Born in Lehfed, Lebanon, he was known as the “angel of the family” and lived by the constant realization that “God can see me.”

Blessed Patriarch Estephan El Douaihy

Blessed Estephan El Douaihy (1630–1704) was the 57th Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and a celebrated 17th-century historian. Known as the "Father of Maronite History", he was beatified on August 2, 2024, becoming the first Maronite Patriarch to receive this honor in contemporary times.

Blessed Patriarch Elias Hoyek

Elias Howayek, 'Father of Greater Lebanon' – elected Patriarch in 1899, he held office for over 30 years. He founded the Congregation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family and was a key shepherd during severe socio-political trials, constantly defending his flock.
